The Story

7/9/26

I purchased it in December 2021 from a craigslist ad in Idaho. My intent was always a restoration, but this truck had a lot of parts missing. I completely stripped it down to bare frame and replaced all rust. Replaced inner frame channel. Blasted frame and POR15 the inside of crossmembers. Obtained a '47 2WD locally and used it as a parts truck. Replaced floor and cowl on original cab. Made a new roof panel and welded it in. Repaired door bottoms. Replaced rocker panels and drip rails. Replaced seat base.

New parts include: Complete bed and crossmembers. Front fenders. Front bumper and brackets. All glass. American Autowire Highway 9 wiring harness. Under floor mounted master cylinder. All new brake lines, wheel cylinders on rear. Front disc brake conversion. New rotors and calipers. All new Timkin US made wheel bearings. All weatherstripping and rubber mounts. Clutch and flywheel. Universal joints. Exhaust system. PowerGen alternator 12V and modern gear reduction starter. Battery cables. Engine water pump. Rebuilt parts include: Complete engine including sleeving block to standard bore. Oil pump, timing chain, cam, rod and main bearings all new. Carter Ball & Ball carb. New governor. NP420 transmission upgrade. Transfer case. Replacement seat spring and re-covered seat. Epoxy primer under everything. Minimal filler. Single Stage paint matched to original. There's more but out of room. Hope to finish by fall.

I knew I wasn't done yet. New fuel tank and sending unit. Refurbished speedometer. Gauges refurbished (no ammeter hooked up) New NDT 9.00-16 tires, tubes, flaps. Blasted and POR15 rims. Stock 5.83 gears in diffs. New headliner and firewall pad. I'm sure there is a lot of things that I haven't covered. Next 4 pictures are where I started and some of the journey.
