Qataban and Sheba Video

Exclusively offered through Vintage Power Wagons, this unique and limited edition video was made especially for Power Wagon owners. Back in 1949, young Wendell Phillips walked into the Chrysler Corporation and asked for a donation of several Dodge Power Wagons to help transport film equipment and supplies for a planned expedition into Arabia. To his sur-prise Chrysler donated 17 specially equipped Dodge Power Wagons. This rare footage was never released as a film and the original ver-sion was issued without any narration. Wendell had narrated the film, live in person, whenever he showed it. Sadly, Wendell died at an early age in 1975. Several years ago, an audio tape was found that featured Wendell’s voice. Carefully combined and timed with the original film, this wonderful video tape is now complete with Wendell’s voice! During his exploration, the location for the legendary Queen of Sheba’s temple was found and excavations began on this unique and historical archaeological wonder. Excavations came to an abrupt stop when problems from local authorities forced expedition crew members to flee for their lives in (2) Dodge Power Wagons! Not only is the story fascinating, but completely true.

This interesting film tells the story of several years exploring the wild, dangerous and completely unexplored Arabian Peninsula. Some of the best and first ever, film footage was shot with some of the finest equip-ment, at the time, featuring the Dodge Power Wagon, in all its glory. Due to the great efforts of our dear friend Merilyn Phillips Hodgson, (Wendell’s younger sister), this tape was specially prepared for all Power Wagon enthusiasts. Each jacket insert has a limited edition number and has been personally signed by Merilyn and our great friend George Farrier, who was photographer and mechanic during the expedition.

Merilyn recently received permission from the Government of Yemen to return to Arabia and complete temple excavations — a project her brother began 50 years ago.
